Online critiques

Two options: 30 minutes or 1 hour

Here’s how it works:

- Email me at John@JohnBorowicz.com to make arrangements.

-You send me images in advance so I can acquaint myself with your work.

- We set up a Google Meet for an agreed upon time.

- We chat about your work. I structure my critiques into two distinct phases. First we talk about technique and formal matters. For instance: Is there a sense of clarity in the work? Is the specific approach to either figuration, distortion, or abstraction serving the painting well? Are there any issues with color harmony, rhythm, or composition that could be addressed. In phase 2 we talk about the meaning behind the work. This includes philosophy, political issues, narrative content, historical connections etc. I may also share some ideas for practice or exercises to help you move forward. I will frequently talk about artists whose work may be helpful to look at.

This thoroughly enjoyable process is casual, flexible, and enlightening.

Cost: $40 for 30 minutes
$75 for 1 hour
